Top Five Books 2022

Reading tastes are as unique as we are as individuals. I especially like fiction that creates a strong sense of place with characters that are dynamic and ideally I can learn something from. My fellow booksellers sometimes do persuade me to read out of my comfort zones and that is a good thing. But those books haven’t ended up on my top five yet. I hope my top five fiction books list I read in 2022 that were published in 2022 inspires you to give the gift of reading, and if one does inspire you to buy a book, please consider supporting your local bookstore this holiday season and all year long.

1 Ski Jumpers, Peter Geye - A story about brothers and forgiveness taking place on ski jumps and the snowy streets of Minneapolis.

2. The Christie Affair, Nina deGamont - I abandoned my to do list when I started reading this book - more mystery than romance.

3. The Paper Palace, Miranda Cowley Heller - A family drama written in a way that makes you feel like you are a part of the family which is difficult at times. The author wrote for the Tv show The Sopranos, this is her first novel.

4.Remarkably Bright Creatures, Shelby Van Plet - Simply a satisfying read with relatable characters, even the unlikely octopus.

5. The Good Left Undone, Adriana Trigiani - Takes you to a small village in Italy, into a multigenerational family with motherhood at the center of the story.

What was your favorite book of 2022?

Merry Christmas! May your holidays be blessed with family, friends, laughter, love and time to read.
