Finding My Voice Again

I’ve been suffering from a case of laryngitis though I am not actually physically sick. But I have lost my voice. Covid19 has changed our world and for me it stole my confidence to blog during these uncertain times.

I started blogging a couple years ago. I started out simply sharing recipes mainly related to essential oil DIY projects. My favorite DIY essential oil blend is still Love Potion. And then my writing evolved and expanded. I started sharing about our animals, about marrying my high-school sweetheart, about being a mom, about my mindful journey, and it became my creative outlet. I’ve always loved playing with words and through this blog I challenge myself to use my love of words to find meaning in my daily life. It became my online journal that I share as an opportunity to connect and as a way for me to remember.

Unfortunately these difficult times have made me have an uncertainty in my voice. I’m afraid to write about the duck pond we built because it now seems irrelevant. I’m afraid to share a compassion meditation I recorded because my life has not changed dramatically like many peoples lives have due to COVID19, financial stress and quarantines. I feel my privilege and it makes me insecure and uncertain so I have become quiet. I lost my voice.

Recently I realized that becoming quiet is the complete opposite of what we need to do in these uncertain times. We need to share and connect now more than ever. I can be quiet and live in fear of offending or I can be open and honest and continue to learn and evolve.

I am finding my blogging voice again. A wise friend (Meg Michaelson) told me to end the year with the energy that you want to bring into the new year. We all need to do what we can to bring positive, healthy and loving energy into 2021.

One new thing I have been doing to increase my energy and focus is continuing to swim in our lake.

My cold water immersion practice is inspired by Wim Hof. He believes that when we challenge ourselves to do hard things we awaken and stimulate our mind and body. It is in this awakened state we can strive to reach our highest potential. I follow his cold water immersion practice and breathing technique. My goal for cold water immersion is to stay in long enough to reach a calm state through breath work. Since starting the Wim Hof method in October; I can attest to an increase in energy and focus that is remarkable. I even believe that it is through the Wim Hof method that I have found my blogging voice again. I love to write so I will continue to write, share and evolve. Join me on the journey with comments, or just enjoy the read, or unsubscribe. There is always a choice in life.

My hope is we all continue to connect, evolve and bring our absolute best energy into 2021.

It is so fun when my dear neighbor chooses the cold water with me. Thank you Ashley! So much more fun with you!
