Love Potion

Since I started making blends with Young Living Essential Oils, Love Potion has been by far the biggest hit! People have stopped me asking what my perfume is on a regular basis. I have had to give away my Love Potion a couple times because people love it so much they beg my for it, they offer to pay for it, they want me to send them their own, and sometimes in those situations it is just easier to give them mine. I have made it with my friends and we all love it. Now in the spirit of full disclosure I do know of two people who are not crazy about it. The Patchouli in it reminds some people of hippy friends they would rather forget. But most people love it – and guys really love it, so wear it with caution!

It is actually an Emotion Potion that is an exquisite recipe that evokes the emotions of strong confident women. Its constituents tend to create feelings of romance, beauty, and strength.

Ylang Ylang

The flowers have been used to cover the beds of newlywed couples for centuries. Traditionally used in hair formulas to promote thick, shiny, lustrous hair. Balances. Increases focus. Restores confidence.

Patchouli

Part of the mint family bearing pale pink flowers. Patchouli has been used for centuries in perfumes. The essential oil comes from the leaves. The highest quality comes when fresh leave are distilled close to where it is harvested. Most companies distill dried leaves which have lost most of the vitality and integrity of the plant. Many historians speculate that the association with opulent Eastern goods such as silk which was wrapped with patchouli leaves for travel is why patchouli was considered by Europeans to be a luxurious scent. It is said it was used in the linen chests of Queen Victoria.

Joy

The beautiful blend inspires romance and the exquisite fragrance evokes joy. Rose essential oil is a key feature of this blend and it holds the highest frequency among essential oils. Bergomot balances hormones, calms emotions and relives anxiety and stress. Mandarin promotes happiness while lemon invigorates to lift emotions. Geranium balances emotions. Jasmine exudes an exquisite fragrance that revitalizes the spirit and evokes feelings of love and support. Chamomile releases mental blocks and Rosewood gives a feeling of being grounded, stable and strong.

Sandalwood

Used for centuries for skin revitalization and prayer. Biblical oil. It is high in sesquiterpenes that stimulate pineal gland and limbic region of the brain – center for emotions. The pineal gland is responsible for releasing melatonin – a powerful immune stimulant and neurotransmitter that promotes deep sleep.

Balsam Fir

This tree has been prized through the ages for its medicinal effects especially for respiratory conditions and muscular pain. The benefits for the olfactory system are that it evokes a sense of grounding and stimulates the mind and relaxes the body.

Jasmine

Known in India as the “queen of the night,” woman have treasured it for centuries for its beautiful, aphrodisiac-like fragrance. According to Robert Wilson, “In many religious traditions, the jasmine flower symbolizes hope, happiness and love.”

Somewhere along the way, my friends and I renamed this unique essential oil blend "Love Potion" because love seems to happen to women who wear it. There is no perfect measurement, just use your nose to determine the right ratios for you! And don’t forget to make a cute label.
