The Tiny Temple for Well-Being

While we were traveling in Wanaka, New Zealand I came across a wellness and meditation center called, The Tiny Temple for Well-Being. I texted the number and made an appointment for what I wasn’t exactly sure. The Tiny Temple happened to be a short five minute drive away from where we were staying.  It was a charming little house with the most adorable signage.

I was greeted in typical warm New Zealand style. Tanette invited me into her front room where the sun poured in the windows and there was a comfortable small couch and table with incense burning. She offered me a cup of  tea and we chatted casually. I instantly felt comfortable.

My wellness session included a guided meditation, animal card reading and conversation. I’ve done plenty of meditation but never a one on one guided meditation. She led me in a beautiful guided meditation grounding with mother earth and then connecting to the divine light from above. She took me into a balanced calm state. It was really remarkable.  While I was still in a meditative state she had a conversation with me. She asked me poignant questions and I was able to answer with such clarity from being in such a calm state. I went there searching for answers to a particular question I had in mind; but I left with so much more than one answer.

The meditation gave me a crystal clear understanding that I don’t need to search for the next big idea, the next house, or the next business opportunity. Everything I need I have right in front of me. I just need to be present. I need to allow time to take care of my family, to take care of our animals, to take care of our beautiful garden, enjoy time in nature with my family and friends and write. I can stop searching for the next big thing, the next big moment. Everything I need is within me, is all around me. All I need is to slow down and see it. I can create the exact life I want by being present and purposeful. It is all possible but I need to slow down and consciously choose how I spend my time each day. The magic potion isn’t out there somewhere; rather it is with in and closely connected to simple time management.

After our meditation Tanette invited me to pick two animal cards. The first one I choose with the intention of gaining understanding of where I am and the second one was to give me guidance of where I want to go. The first card I pulled was the bee card. I have been such a busy bee. Always so many projects, so busy.

Our society glorifies being busy. When we are so busy we don’t have to be present, we can allow ourselves to be distracted with the next thing on our long to do list. When I read the insight on the bee card I realized I was getting tired and I don’t want to sting my family and friends. It really hit home hard how important it is for me to stop being so busy.

The second card I selected was the Dolphin card which immediately pleased me as I have a love for water and the ease in which dolphins move through the water.

When I read the Dolphin card meaning it was a beautiful validation to move forward on my path of sharing meditation.

I enjoyed the insight gained through using the animals cards as tools for self realization and contemplation. I left the Tiny Temple with a wonderful feeling of peace and clarity.

May we each take time out of our day to pause, contemplate and move forward with purpose.
