Blue Bear Update

Blue Bear blended into our family as a puppy with ease. I bragged to family and friends how quickly he was potty trained, how smart he was. He understood the electric fence boundary in one day. Blue was the perfect puppy and I was convinced that all we had to do was shower him with love and attention and he would be the perfect dog. Things did not go as I had envisioned.

Blue and Louie became partners in trouble and caused a lot of stress and chaos this summer! Their favorite trick was to just bolt right through the electric fence, taking the shock, for the freedom on the other side. They would run down the drive way, across the street, on to the pier and into the water! We had dear neighbors and even the police bring them home from their escapades. I could not let it continue. I was terrified they would get hit by a car. I researched and researched dog trainers. I found KC-K9 Academy in Hartland. I signed Blue up for bootcamp immediately and I learned with my fourth dog how to actually train a dog beyond β€œsit” for the first time. Blue has learned a lot as have I. The training has been time consuming, fun and so worth it. We just took Blue to CO with us and it was so much fun having a trained dog in the state that welcomes dogs everywhere.

Blue and I are going to continue going to classes at the KC-K9 Academy. We like learning together. Who knows maybe he will be a bat dog for the Dockhounds or a search and rescue dog for ski patrol someday? Now that he is trained we can dream about his future.
